I kept promising my self that I'd start my blog 'tomorrow'. But as I realized tomorrow kept passing me by, I decided to start my blog off today.

My name is Debra Steinman. I'm 48 years old, married with two kids with Aspergers, and have Aspergers myself.

First of all, having Aspergers really isn't a hard thing to deal with. The only hard part of the Aspergers, is having to deal with some pretty ignorant people who think that I and my children should be segregated from 'normal' society because I (and my children) are different from them.

I told them to get over it. They tell me alot of times, that I have a very 'poor' attitude. They keep on preaching about compassion and tolorance, yet they're unwilling to extend that compassion to me or people like me. Yep, that's 'commpassionate' alright ...

NOT! It's hypocritical. If people want equality, then they should be willing to give it. Instead, they keep pulling the same crap over and over again.

Also, I'm a artist. My art was 'evaluated' by the Galleries, but no one is 'buying' or willing to show my work (even)on consignment. The Gallery owners said my work is 'masterful', but they just can't take the risk right now (as no one is buying). They are encouraging me to 'stick with it'.

So what do I do? Do I sit around feeling sorry for myself, saying the world is unfair? Do I whine about the artists who's work is showing on Canyon Rd but not selling, saying get rid of the Dead weight and let me in?

I don't think so.

If there is one thing that I've learned, is always to have a plan 'B'. First of all instead of whining about what isn't going to happen, I've signed up (and have been approved to teach) at the Fuller Art Center. I'm already getting the materials ready for the class for when it starts in Febuary. I am even working on the basket that the students will be learning to make.

I am also getting my art together, so that I can have a art showing at a place which specializes in featuring upcoming artists.

I even got a account on Etsy.com. I have one item for sale so far. It's a basket. A pretty one. Of course, all of my baskets look great ;). But I figured, having a place like Etsy.com would be a plus for my resume. My user name on Etsy.com is Littledebrarae.

So even though I am disappointed at the galleries being unable to accept my work at this time, I'm always looking to the future.

I think it's great to look at what can be, instead of what isn't.

(((((((HUGS))))) peace and hope,

Debra Steinman

Debrarae - I saw your comment on Trevor Loudon's blog as well. You say Udall of CO states this. Is he against the Bill or in support of it?

Actually, it's Senator Tom Udall of NM. I met with his aide on 8/25/09, and the fact that the registry and surveilence is on the bill (as written) was verified by Udall's office.

And Udall's office would not guarantee that this bill would not be a admendment on any health bill that passed.

So that's why it's important to kill this bill BEFORE this happens.

Because there's nothing to stop the government from changing Autistic/Aspergers to Jew, Black, Gay, Christian, Conservative, etc... and so forth.

As I said in past posts ... this bill is in fact the "Autistic's Nuremburg Tribute Act of 2009"
